The Chetek cross country ski, snowshoe, hiking & running trail:
The trail begins behind the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser High School/Middle School building on the west edge of town off of Knapp Street. There is ample parking at the start of the route. The trail begins adjacent to the maintenance shed located next to the baseball field. The cross country ski/snowshoe trail loops out onto Bailey Lake.
If you’re interested in the hiking/running trail, follow the school loop that is located behind the school. This trail is used by the cross country running team when school is in session.
The cross country ski/snowshoe trail is a project of the Chetek Chamber of Commerce. Donations are accepted for snowmobile gas/maintenance. Grooming is done annually on a volunteer basis.
31.6 miles of marked bike routes are available in the Chetek area along the west and east sides of Prairie Lake, along the west side of Pokegama Lake and through the City of Chetek and around the Island of Chetek. The routes are marked with a bike symbol and arrows painted on the road. A map of the routes is available at the local tourist center.
